We’re proud that, 18 months since we were born, Mush is responsible for hundreds of thousands of friendships between mums all over the UK and beyond.

So, we want to kick off 2018 (twenty mate-een, if you will…) by putting a focus on friendship and being kind to other mums. On the great, messy journey of motherhood, we all have good days and bad days, and sometimes – OK, all the time – it’s hard to pause for breath and acknowledge that we’re doing a decent job. And our mum mates are exactly the same, just muddling through 24/7 without realising how brilliant they are.

That’s why we’re making it our mission to get mums showing their awe for each other – or just offering a bit of reassurance that we’re all in the same, often rocky, boat. We might be one of those new-fangled app thingummies, but we’re not afraid to get sentimental on paper, which is why we’ve knocked up our range of Mushy cards – our own little pieces of kindness, designed to put a smile on the faces of our support network. We’re not talking big sweeping gestures (who has time for that?), we’re talking about celebrating the buggy walk companions during the January rain, the 4am feeding chats that somehow have you smothering your giggles in the middle of the night, the midwife who made you feel like you’re doing OK.

Here’s a bit more about the five cards you’ll get if you apply for a pack…

“You made it out today with a tiny human, you’re already winning”

We all have those days when we need to celebrate the tiny victories, when just leaving the house is an achievement in itself. This is for the mum friend who needs reminding of that – maybe she’s your best mate, or maybe she’s a stressed-out mum you’ve seen in the supermarket, juggling the weekly shop with a tantrumming toddler. She needs this.

“Thank you for caring for me and my baby”

Got a midwife or health visitor who’s gone the extra mile and made you feel special? Or perhaps the in-laws stocked your fridge with yumminess while you were recovering from giving birth? This is your chance to show your gratitude.

“It gets easier. In the meantime, there’s caffeine”

When you’re in the thick of the baby bubble, it’s hard to imagine how life will ever be the same again. “It gets easier” is the biggest cliché in the motherhood book for a reason – it’s true! Hand this one over to the mum friend who needs to see the light at the end of the tunnel (bonus points if you buy her a cuppa too…).

“You’re the best mum your kids have ever had”

If you’ve got a mate who’s doubting her amazingness when it comes to this whole parenting malarkey, she needs this. She thinks she’s winging it; her kids think she’s the centre of the universe, and they love her to pieces.

“You’re stronger than you think… even on 2 hours sleep”

Got a friend who’s wading through a sleep regression, or panicking about going back to work when her little one still wakes up throughout the night? Let her know that she’s totally got this.

Like the sound of that lot? You can get yours here. And we’d love to see what you end up doing with them – you can use the hashtag #mumfriendsrock and #mushycards to show us on Instagram.
